In early September, I was approached by the DEC’s Salmon River Liason, Fran Verdoliva about doing a PHW event on the river itself. After some good planning with the main PHW staff and a couple of local entities, a great group of wounded vets came up for one and a half days of fishing for salmon. With each vet teamed up with a guide/mentor, these vets put on a show of determination and bravado you will rarely see anywhere. The trip ended with everyone having a new respect for the river, it’s fish, and most importantly, each other.
I am now honored and humbled to be coordinating the Oswego County NY Chapter of PHW and am looking forward to doing much, much more.
Many local people have come forward to help out with this chapter with donations of time and money. Many more from out of the area have been asking what they can do. PHW is a non-profit organization that relies on monetary donations to make the programs work. If anyone is interested, please check out the web site at the top and see what PHW is all about.
Here are a couple ways you can help from home. You can donate directly to the main PHW, or earmark your donation in whole or in part by putting Oswego NY in the memo line of your donation. OR….you can donate by fishing. From now on, every trip booked with me will get a $50 donation, in YOUR name, to go directly into the PHW account to help with events. We’re all in this together to give back to those who have sacrificed so much. Let’s show them we care!
